Since 1937, September marks the time of year when members of our community and friends come together to celebrate the successes of the previous year. Through lean and bountiful years this annual tradition has,  without fail, commemorated the efforts and hard work of our local agricultural community. From our humble beginnings 78 years ago, the Waterford Community Fair continues to thrive and offers something for everyone, of every age, on everyday, always beginning on Labor Day.  Monday kicks off with exhibit registration in all of our 18 Departments; floral, baking, vegetables, quilts, needle-work, youth crafts and mention just a few.  All exhibitors anxiously competing for ribbons, premiums and bragging rights.

Major entertainment events on the first day of the fair include our annual Horse Show and 4X4 Truck Pull. Don’t miss an afternoon visit from the Erie County Dairy Princess and get a taste of a GIANT ice cream sundae.

The remainder of fair week offers live music nightly at the gazebo as well as different pull events at our track and grand-stand area. Exhibits are judged, ribbons assigned, winners declared and boasting begins. Pack up the family and come visit us at the Waterford Fair. Once you’ve been here, we think you’ll agree …

"Just showin' off!"

Every year more than 1,200 exhibitors submit over 6,000 entries at the Waterford Fair with hopes their entry will be the best in the field. In addition to our impressive display of prime local livestock, see how the judges picked the best of the best in Floral, Handcraft, Youth Handcrafts. Vegetables, Hay & Grain, Canned & Baked goods, Needlecraft...the list goes on!

Throughout fair week, shows and judging for all livestock entries are held in our youth barn and arena. Countless hours of grooming and show preparation pay off in showmanship and fitting competitions. In addition to the shows, you can get up-close and personal with all of the animals by visiting them at their stalls and pens.

Shows and judging as follows:

Goats & Swine -             Monday
Sheep & Dairy Cattle -  Tuesday
Pleasure Horse -            Tuesday
Beef Cattle & Rabbits -  Wednesday
Draft Horse Events -       Wednesday through Saturday

On Thursday at 6PM, Erie County 4H youth have an opportunity to market  their 4H project animal at the Waterford Fair Livestock Auction. Here’s an excellent opportunity to support our local youth, as well as stock your freezer for the winter months ahead.

Over 100 4H project animals are sold annually at the auction with clubs raising charity animals to benefit various local charitable institutions. Celebrity guest auctioneers join the effort to promote the 4H program and agricultural education in our community.

Our annual opening day horse show kick-starts fair week, Monday at 9:00am. Don’t miss one of our favorite spectator events with horses, ponies and riders competing in such events as Open Trail,  English and Western Pleasure Horse, Raised Box Keyhole, Pole Bending Clover Leaf Barrels and more.

Entry classes for seniors, adult, junior and pee-wee provides an exciting spectrum of entertainment for all ages. Lots of riders, lots of horses, lots of action....lots of fun!

Our Midway features amusement rides, shows, games of skill and a wide variety of concession vendors. Fair food aficionados travel for miles to sample a huge variety of the festival’s tasty culinary treats!
The Midway opens Monday at 2pm, Tuesday and Friday at 5pm, and Noon on Saturday.

A different pull event every day...and some-times two! From the pedal tractors to the raw strength of the draft horses and high-powered modified tractors, each contestant has only one thing on their mind…

Take time to breakaway from urban sprawl and city lights. Take time to smell the freshest country air. Take time to treat your family to good whole-down-home fun and educational entertainment.  Join us...won't you?...We think you'll find....

Over the years the fair’s success can be traced to the volunteers who have unselfishly donated countless hours of their time and efforts.  Their only reward has been that warm and satisfying feeling associated with helping a friend.  Without this community’s involvement, the fair’s future success and growth would most certainly be in question.

We continually welcome and encourage any and all who would like to volunteer, at any level. To become a bigger part of Waterford Community Fair...please contact any fair board director or committee chair for details on how you too, can join.
